The Salon
Stevie English Hair opened in November 2007, born of an idea to build a funky, unique hair salon that would have minimal impact on the environment. Stevie Corthine had already established himself as a talented colourist with a laid-back attitude, and gathered a team of stellar stylists to join his new venture. The result is a winning combination of friendly, relaxed service, great coffee, and fabulous hair.
The salon itself is a glamourous two-storey space featuring bespoke wallpaper and interiors by award-winning designer Mal Damkar.
The Salon WON a City of Sydney Business Award in 2009, was runner up in 2008, WON the Apprentice Comp at the prestigious Hair Expo in 2009 and WON Australian Makeup Artist of the year 2010 at the AHFA. We have also been nominated for a Lord Mayor’s Sustainability Award, and have been asked to contribute to seminars on sustainable business practice.
All water-using devices in the salon have 4 or 5-star water saving ratings, we use energy efficient gas hot water, low wattage fluorescent lighting and natural light and recycled building materials and furniture. The salon is also Australia’s first climate-neutral hair salon, thanks to the purchase of carbon offsets through Climate Friendly.
Stevie English Hair uses only O&M hair colour, which is ammonia-free and based on minerals, botanicals and essential oils. These products not only produce a superior colour result, they are also gentler on your hair and the environment. All shampoos and styling products employ the same principles. The combination of fantastic results in hair colour and styling in comfortable, stylish surrounds has proven a hit with our loyal clientele and is attracting interest from all over Sydney.
